The Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azureus) is a mid-sized dendrobatid frog weighing about 3 grams and length ranging from 1-1.5 inches. Dendrobates azureus is brightly colored and this coloration serves as a warning to would-be predators of its poisonous properties. The tiny frog’s skin is covered with a myriad of glands that secrete alkaloid poisons capable of paralyzing, even killing predators. It is found only in the southernmost part of the South American country of Suriname.
The magnet measures 2.5” x 3.5” (6.35 x 8.89cm) with a metal shell, mylar/UV protecting cover and flat magnetic back. The artwork is a reproduction of an original line art drawing by wildlife illustrator Roger Hall.
